Why linear drive on a milling machine?
The linear drive is almost predestined to meet the increased demands of circuit board production in terms of contour accuracy. As a leading manufacturer of linear motor-driven circuit board drilling machines, the construction of a milling machine that uses this technology was of course obvious. The linear drive is characterized by its rigidity during positioning as well as its almost non-existent backlash. This has a particular effect when milling circles and contour transitions. Mechanical wear, as with ball screws, does not exist with a linear drive due to its design.

Multi Z axis and multi tool change
With the multi-Z-axis, each milling spindle is operated by its own Z-axis motor. With this system, the individual work spindles can travel independent Z-paths and thus adapt to plate packs of different thicknesses. This is an essential prerequisite for precise depth milling with surface scanning.

Machine Controls

All contour milling machines of the RLG series can be equipped with the Sieb & Meyer CNC 48.00 or CNC 84.00 controls.
